The Falcons 53 man roster and projected depth chart after final cuts

The Atlanta Falcons have “finalized” their 53 man roster, and now that we know the full list of cuts, it’s time to consider what this team is actually going to look like when they hit the field.

A note up front: You shouldn’t consider this a truly final roster, because it’s unlikely that the Falcons carry only four cornerbacks into the regular season, and other team’s cuts could very well wind up on this roster over the next week or so. For now, though, this is what we’re working with, and you’ll soon hear from The Falcoholic staff about whether we consider this to be a good roster or not.

For the purposes of combining the roster and depth chart, here’s the full 53 man, plus a very rough projected set of starters and reserves. We’ll see how close to reality this in when the Falcons play the Buccaneers in Week 1.

Who might the 3 most expendable be on this 53?

Goldson (once Neal is healthy)

4 TEs and none of them are D.J. Tialavea >:(

Williams makes itover McKissic so i lost the bet. sorry GrendelG’s big toe

Upshaw over Babs. i said he might’ve been cut.

i’m glad Goodwin makes it over King. king needs more work.

No other surprises i see

4 TEs and 4 CBs doesn't look right.

I really hope this changes before the 1st game. Way before the first game. Not two days before.

I’m sorry but Wheeler was by far the most EMBARRASSING Falcon on the field playing against fringe roster players in the 4th preseason game. How is he still on this team!?

Very happy we kept Josh Perkins

He made some nice catches. Not sure I understand why LaRoy Reynolds was kept though.

Would not be shocked....

….if Perkins is waived when we make the inevitable tweaks the next few days….but by keeping him on the original 53 and releasing him a little later there will less chance another team will pick him up and more probable we can get him to the PS.

Good point

Reynolds is the new Stupar

Special Teams ace and decent LB depth

I think Worrilow makes a better new Stupar

Soooooooo no returner

We have just given up on returning it seems

Either it's Weems again

Or Coleman for KR and Hardy for PR. NOT sure I’m happy about either of those.

Thank God that

McKissic didn’t make the roster.

I mean really, who wants great field position? You cannot pile up the meaningless offensive stats between the 20s if your starting field position is too good. Smart move. I love it.

Was it last year that they cut King, signed him, cut him again then resigned him?

There’s always hope for McKissic I guess.

It also appears the King revolving door principle is still in effect. I’m willing to bet he’s back on the team before the 1st game. 5th by the latest.

Okay maybe the injury will delay him

just a little bit. I'll change my bet to week 8.

Drop Person

And go sign Josh Sitton now!

I just don't even know how Person made the team. He was so bad this preseason and it's not like he was great last year.

Also do we really need 5 back ups who can play guard but only 1 who can play tackle?

The terrifying thing is that Person is our backup C

Pray for Alex Mack’s health

Actually Garland seems to be our back up center atm.

I don't know if that's reassuring

How much experience does Garland have at center?

We’d have to figure out who is being benched but I’d love to have that problem.

There are only 52 on your list

which means that you need to add Neal to the list of Safeties. He’s not on IR.

Collins will be eligible back in week 5, so I imagine we will see either Poole or Goodwin moved to the Practice Squad at that point.

I only noticed the above discrepancy as I was trying to determine who the Falcons do have on IR for the year.

Devin Fuller
Akeem King
DeMarcus Van Dyke

Is there anyone else? I feel like I am forgetting someone that should be obvious.

Falcons? The problem is NOT in personnel...

… the headache is in coaching and play calling.
