As you all know, I was partial to Tyler Eifert heading into the draft. I made no effort to conceal that fact. When the Falcons traded up for the 22nd overall pick and Eifert was still on the board, I'll be honest, my heart pitter pattered a bit. I thought to myself, "could this be it?!" But alas, it wasn't meant to be. It just wasn't.
All that said, the Trufant pick makes a lot of sense. As Caleb pointed out in the inaugural episode of Rise Up Radio, we essentially got first crack at the second tier corner backs in this year's draft. In addition, Trufant doesn't have the injury concerns the two corner backs that went before him do.
I'm not certain Trufant can start effectively from the outset. The corner back learning curve is steep. Steep like climbing Mt. Everest with one eye, shortly after killing a 30 rack of Natty Lite. But that's just my opinion.
Your thoughts?
