NFL Week 14 ‘Thursday Night Football’ game picks and open thread

Thursday Night Football brings us a rather depressing game this week, as Week 14 kicks off with the New England Patriots taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Read on for our picks and predictions.

Week 14 of the 2023 NFL season is here! Our Atlanta Falcons escaped New York with a win over the Jets last week to take full control of the NFC South and get back to .500 for the first time since October.

What will Week 14 have for us? Things kick off with tonight’s Thursday Night Football matchup between the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Let’s get right to tonight’s pick, which I’ll be making on a straight moneyline (aka picking the winner) basis. I’ll still provide the information on the spread and over/under, for those interested. At the bottom, I’ll show the rest of the staff’s picks for the game.

All odds are taken from DraftKings Sportsbook and are subject to change. See the current odds here.

Thursday Night Football: New England Patriots (2-10) at Pittsburgh Steelers (7-5)

The pick: Steelers (-230)

Spread: Steelers -5.5 | Over/Under: 30 | Moneyline: Steelers -230, Patriots +190

Talk about a primetime downer. We get the moribund Patriots taking on the Steelers with their backup QB. The over/under is 30. Nobody expects anything other than a slopfest in this one, but I do trust Pittsburgh to at least make enough plays to win the game. New England couldn’t beat the Chargers when holding them to just six points. It’s dark times for the Patriots—which I’m fine with—and I probably won’t trust them the trust of the way.
