Bad news for the Atlanta Falcons as the injury bug struck early against Chicago. Zach Harrison, rookie defensive edge out of Ohio, has been shining on the field in recent weeks. Late in the first quarter, Harrison was laid out on the field with trainers looking at his knee. After a short period on the field, Harrison walked off on his own power but was clearly in some pain.
No news yet on Harrison’s potential return. The team should give him a designation and clarify his particular injury.
Harrison has 29 tackles and 3 sacks in the 2023 season, with all of his sacks in his last two games. He’s been backing up Calais Campbell on the defensive line rotation, with few healthy ends left active. We may see some more of LaCale London in the rotation. That should mean an even worse pass rush against Justin Fields.
Update: Harrison returned to the game late in the 2nd quarter.
