The Atlanta Falcons face off against the Chicago Bears in cold Chicago with both teams looking at a very remote chance of making the playoffs. Perhaps the most interesting story line for the Falcons will be getting an up close look at quarterback Justin Fields, who is rumored to be on the trading block in the offseason.
For Arthur Smith, he needs a good performance by the team in order to return in 2024. Ending another disappointing season with uneven, disjointed performances may push team owner Arthur Blank to finally move on from Smith.
The good news is Kaleb McGary finally returns. However, Storm Norton had filled in quite well at the right tackle spot in McGary’s absence. Either way, look for the Falcons to try to impose its run game in light of the weather.
Atlanta’s inactives look like the bottom of the roster:
- OL Jovaughn Gwyn
- DL Tommy Togiai
- OL John Leglue
- TE John FitzPatrick
- DL Joe Gaziano
- QB Logan Woodside
For the Bears, Darnell Mooney misses the game after suffering a concussion from former Falcons safety Damontae Kazee. D’Onta Foreman, who has previously been able to bowl through Atlanta’s defense, is a surprising inactive. Foreman was a full participant in practice on Friday after missing practice for a personal reason.
The biggest news is Cole Kmet is active. The athletic tight end could very well eat Richie Grant alive.
Chicago’s official inactives are below:
- WR Darnell Mooney
- QB Nathan Peterman
- RB D’Onta Foreman
- LB DeMarquis Gates
- DB Quindell Johnson
- OL Ja’Tyre Carter
