NFL Week 7 ‘Monday Night Football’ game picks and open thread

Week 7 of the 2023 NFL season is in the books, save tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup between the San Francisco 49ers (5-1) and the Minnesota Vikings (2-4). While this week’s slate didn’t feature quite the same level of crazy as Week 6, it was pretty close. We got the New England Patriots upsetting the Buffalo Bills, a crazy 39-38 Cleveland Browns victory over the Indianapolis Colts, and a 16-13 slop fest between our Atlanta Falcons and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for control of the NFC South.

Let’s get right to tonight’s pick, which I’ll be making on a straight moneyline (aka picking the winner) basis. I’ll still provide the information on the spread and over/under, for those interested. At the bottom, I’ll show the rest of the staff’s picks for the game.

The pick: 49ers (-290)

Spread: 49ers -7 | Over/Under: 43.5 | Moneyline: 49ers -290, Vikings +260

Last week’s Monday Night Football game was a close affair, and one of the better MNF games of the season. This week we get an angry, embarrassed 49ers team coming off an inexplicable loss to the P.J. Walker-led Browns going up against a disheveled Vikings team and primetime Kirk Cousins. This one has the makings of a massive blowout, but even if it’s not, give me the 49ers all day.
