So after blowing a 16 point lead, our head coach decided to take out some of his frustration on the media.
"You’ll continue to write our obituary. Who cares? We have 16 games. You buried us in May. Bury us again. We don’t care. We’ll get back to work."
I get it. It's week 1 against your biggest rival. A team that believes it has SB aspirations versus a team that hasn't been relevant in 5+ years. You can't really blame the media for the dope show that this offseason has been. Gone are Matt Ryan, Foye, Russell Gage, Ridley with the suspension, Cap Space and we welcomed in some 1 year contract guys and a boat load of Dead Cap. Guys that are looking to be the next Cordarelle Patterson. Guys like Marcus Mariota who hasn't been relevant in 4 years.
So to have the arrogance to think there's some media-driven narrative against this year's Falcons team is ridiculous.
The reality is the fans, the media, the hot dog stand guy, Freddie the Falcon, the Braves, Waffle House didn't yield 17 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to lose game 1 of the 2022 season. It didn't let Taysom Hill, whose been doing this to us every time we play him, to run 81 yards and let Jameis Winston look like a potential MVP in that 4th quarter. It also didn't commit 8 penalties and forgot that a guy like Kyle Pitts and Drake London existed in the 4th quarter.
And honestly, I'm tired of it and I know a lot of you are also.. Not just Smith or Pees but, the narrative of what the Falcons are. Right now, that's a bunch of losers that can't put 4 quarters of consistent football together. That's been our narrative since 2016. You get the ball in the 4th quarter of a game, you make sure the game is out of reach. And it's lesson we haven't learned since the Super Bowl. Screw Sportsmanship and being the bigger man. We'll work on our moral values when this team can learn to put together 4 quarters of football consistently. You wanted to draft your big flashy weapons in Pitts and London over trench guys, cool. Then put the ball in the hands of your playmaker dude. And stop blaming others for your own failures.
