Falcoholinks: All the Falcons news you need for Thursday, Sept. 23

The most Thursdays of news.

The possibilities are endless today... except that it is Thursday, meaning the possibilities in fact are quite limited.

Welcome to the Falcoholinks, the only place for a roundup of Falcoholic news all in one place. If someone else does a roundup of Falcoholic news, they will be mercilessly sued. This has been your only warning.

Onto the ‘links.

Bad news about Gage

We have been terribly concerned about the wide receiver depth without Julio Jones. Besides simply the unappealing depth chart behind Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage, those two aforementioned pass catchers have a history of injuries in the pros. Now Gage is expected to miss Sunday’s tilt against New York and maybe more.

Primer on the Giants

Has anyone here really been staying on top of the Giants? I think Saquon Barkley has been bad and so has Daniel Jones. The remaining 51 players are a mystery. Luckily, Dave Choate broke down everything you need to know ahead of Sunday’s game.

The Giants rivalry

The Falcons have had a number of disappointing losses to the Giants. However, one sticks out more than others thanks to the flat playoff performance that resulted in a shockingly low score. We... look back at that game. I’m not sure why.

Hall of Fame nominations

John Abraham is included. That is all.

Finally, some blitz-worthy opponents

Dan Pees has a tendency to blitz. In fact, the Falcons have no way of sacking a quarterback without blitzing. However, blitzing isn’t very effective against a mobile quarterback like Jalen Hurts or Tom Brady and whatever (alleged) untestable performance enhancer he is taking (piranha brains? teenager blood transfusions? that stuff they gave Bane in Batman Forever?). Finally, enter Daniel Jones. This defense could gain some confidence this week. Find out more here.
