Falcons vs. Buccaneers Week 2 open thread

We’ve been bracing for this one all week. Here’s hoping it’s a surprise win for Atlanta.

We’re minutes away from kickoff once again. The 0-1 Falcons are trying to bounce back after a rough loss to the Eagles and show that they’re just rusty and not terrible. The 1-0 Buccaneers are hoping to steamroll a division rival and keep the good times going after squeaking out a win over the Cowboys, and they come into this game on 10 days’ rest.

You probably got the feeling that we’re not hyper-optimistic about this one, but that train keeps rolling even if you’re dreading it. My hope for this team is simple: The Falcons win. My more realistic hope is that they at least play much, much better than they did against Philadelphia and give us something to feel better about as the season rolls along. Progress is the name of the game, but a first-time win over Tom Brady and beating the defending Super Bowl champions on the road? That would be something special, even if I hardly dare dream.

Go Falcons! Use this as your open thread for the game ahead.
