Falcons reveal depth chart heading into preseason finale against Browns

For many Falcons players, this is their final opportunity to prove themselves.

The preseason has seemingly flown by as we head into the final weekend of exhibition action. To this point, the Atlanta Falcons are 0-2, which means nothing in terms of what will occur during the regular season. They’ve largely sat their starters and have faced a handful of setbacks, such as the recent season-ending injury sustained by backup quarterback A.J. McCarron, and have since added Josh Rosen

To finish off the preseason, the Falcons will host the Cleveland Browns in a matchup of uncertainty. The uncertainty comes from how much we will see of the Falcons’ starters who have largely been absent up to this point. The fans will possibly get to see the return of tight end Austin Hooper to Atlanta, although it’s unclear how much of the Browns’ starters we will also see. The Falcons have revealed the final depth chart of the preseason, which you can view below.

As you’ll notice above, there were some minor changes to the depth chart as the team recently released five players and placed McCarron on injured reserve. You’ll also notice the addition of quarterback Josh Rosen who was signed on Monday evening, and is split with Feliepe Franks as the backup currently. It’s unclear which of the two will play first on Sunday.

Aside from that, there was really no changes to the depth chart. Preseason is largely unimportant if you’re a starter who is safe in their role, but it is quite the opposite for everyone else. For rookies, especially those who went undrafted, preseason is everything and provides you and opportunity to display your talents and what you can bring to the roster.

We wish those bubble players well as they suit up on Sunday, August 29 at 8 p.m. against the Browns.
