That Miami ordeal was a fun one, eh? Yeah no. But we’ve got news on that nonsense and more in Monday’s edition of Falcoholinks.
QB A.J. McCarron out for the year
Another sloppy preseason affair turned a bit sourer when backup quarterback A.J. McCarron left with an apparent knee injury. The Falcons were clearly concerned as soon as he went down, and today we learned that McCarron will miss the season with a torn ACL.
Absolutely brutal luck. We’re wishing A.J. McCarron the best.
With McCarron sidelined for the year, Atlanta clearly needs to address the backup quarterback spot, and there are a few remaining free-agent options to consider.
Falcons - Dolphins recap
It was a preseason game, alright. The Falcons rolled out the reserves and were trounced by Dolphins 37-17, and their lack of viable depth is now a concern. They’ve been dreadful to watch during the preseason. We’ll have a better feel for where this team is at on Sunday against the Browns.
If you want an auditory post-mortem of the awful display in Miami, The Falcoholic has a new podcast episode for you masochistic folk.
Grady Jarrett on the list
Falcons DT Grady Jarrett again cracked the NFL Network’s Top-100 list. This season landing at No. 54.
TE Ryan Becker to IR, TE David Wells signed
With blocking tight end Ryan Becker landing on injured reserve, the Falcons have signed former Patriots and Chiefs TE David Wells.
Atlanta Jersey History
We’re getting into the final stretch of the best-to-wear-it-in-Atlanta jersey series. Nos. 81-85 were all about the great pass-catchers, while Nos. 86-90 featured a Hall of Famer and a Hall of Fame play.
