NFL: Atlanta Falcons at Miami Dolphins Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

With A.J. McCarron injured early on in the game, Feleipe Franks had a perfect opportunity to seize the QB2 spot on the roster. Did he do it? And did any other players stand out in the hopes of securing one of the few available spots on the 53-man roster?

Well, Evan Birchfield and I discussed all of this and more on the latest postgame podcast. Our topics included:

  • The performance of Franks and why it shouldn’t be a surprise and likely means the QB2 for the Falcons is not currently on the roster
  • The competition at running back and why Huntley has an edge, if just a slight one at this point
  • The depth at wide receiver and why Tajae Sharpe and Frank Darby might have done just enough, even with numerous mistakes
  • The improved performance of the entire offensive line and why that speaks volumes for the regular season
  • The overall performance of the defense and why guys like Javian Hawkinns and Mykal Walker are continuing to impress
  • So much more
