NFL: Atlanta Falcons at Green Bay Packers Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

Our ongoing series previewing the Falcons 2021 roster continues with the safeties. I was joined by Matt Karoly of the Talking Birdy podcast to break down the position group that saw every 2020 starter get cut or leave in free agency this year. The mix of veterans and young players could make this a very intriguing position to keep an eye on all year as the young guys make a move to supplant the stop-gap veterans.

Topics discussed on the podcast include:

  • The role that Erik Harris and Duron Harmon will play and why they will probably start initially, but could see their snaps decline as the season progresses
  • The complexities of what Dean Pees wants to do and why it will take time for a rookie like Richie Grant to get on the field consistently
  • Keeping an eye on the development of second year player Jaylinn Hawkins and why he could be a real wild card in this group
  • The flexibility of a player like T.J. Green and his role in the secondary
  • So much more
