First things first: I just found a bonkers rib recipe for this weekend so you can DM me if you want it.
Second: It’s the Falcoholinks ahead of the Fourth of July. No real fireworks to report (see what I did there), aside from first-round pick Kyle Pitts signing his rookie deal. We’ve got coverage on that and more in today’s edition. Read on.
TE Kyle Pitts signs rookie contract
The Atlanta Falcons’ top selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, TE Kyle Pitts, was the only remaining member of its draft class yet unsigned. That changed this week, as Pitts put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal with $32.9 million fully guaranteed.
In the wake of the Julio Jones’ trade, Kyle Pitts has immediately become a focal point in Atlanta’s air attack, alongside wide receiver Calvin Ridley. He’s now officially in red-and-black for four seasons, with a fifth-year option.
Schedule prediction roundtable: Week 2
The Falcons take on the Super Bowl-winning Tampa Bay Buccanneers on the road in Week 2 of the 2021 NFL season and suffice to say, our band of writers is not confident in the outcome.
Did ya’ll forget about Bobby Butler? The cornerback who played more games for Atlanta than any other CB in team history? Of course, you didn’t — but if you want a refresher on his Falcons career, we’ve got you in this week’s Forgotten Falcons.
Atlanta jersey history
Our Will McFadden continues his ranking of the best-to-wear-the-number-in-Atlanta series, and this week he dropped Nos. 11-15.
