Mandatory minicamp is now underway and we are quickly approaching training camp. Towards the end of training camp, the Atlanta Falcons and 31 other NFL teams will begin their slate of preaseason games, which has been shortened to three instead of the usual four games. In May, the NFL released schedules for the upcoming season, and along with that we learned who the Falcons would be facing as they prepare for the upcoming season.
What we found out today is that the Falcons final preseason game, a week 3 matchup with the Cleveland Browns will be aired on primetime on NBC. Below is the Falcons most up-to-date preseason schedule, which features Arthur Smith coaching against his old team (and Julio Jones), a game against the Miami team they’ll be holding joint practices with, and then the primetime game.
- Week 1: Titans at Falcons, Friday, August 13 at 7pm ET
- Week 2: Falcons at Dolphins, Saturday, August 21 at 7pm ET
- Week 3: Browns at Falcons, Sunday, August 29 at 8pm ET
NFL Preseason Primetime game schedule:
— Field Yates (@FieldYates) June 10, 2021
August 5th: Steelers vs. Cowboys, 8 PM, Hall of Fame Game (FOX)
August 20th: Chiefs at Cardinals, 8 PM (ESPN)
August 23rd: Jaguars at Saints, 8 PM (ESPN)
August 29th: Dolphins at Bengals, 4 PM (CBS), Browns at Falcons, 8 PM (NBC)
Although this doesn’t seem like huge news for those who live locally in the Atlanta-area, it’s exciting for those who do not. During preseason, it’s usually difficult to watch out-of-market teams as the Sunday Ticket doesn’t cover those games. It’ll be the final week for games and the final showcase for any rookies who are hoping to make the team and those fringe players who are just hoping to land a roster spot, so it’ll be worth watching.
