What a messy game against the Panthers. We’ve got game recaps and more in today’s Falcoholinks.
Falcons — Panthers recap
Our team of writers was confident entering this one, with unanimous predictions of a Falcons victory, but that trust was clearly misplaced as Atlanta dropped the home game against Carolina. The Falcons are now 3-4, and will look to move back to .500 next week against the Saints.
The Falcons would have clawed back to a winning record with a victory over Carolina — the first time they had one since 2017 — but they never really looked right for the entirety of the contest.
Despite the loss, the Falcons still hold a wide margin over the Panthers in the all-time series history.
Injuries
None to speak of! Matt Ryan did get his left hand stepped on which led to a decent anount of blood, but Ryan would get it patched up and stay in the game.
Calvin Ridley steps away from football
The Falcons entered this game fairly healthy, but minutes before kickoff it was announced that wide receiver Calvin Ridley would miss the game against the Panthers due to a personal matter.
Ridley missed Atlanta’s game in London due to a similar reason. Ridley released a statement on the situation, stating that he would be stepping away from football to “focus on his mental wellbeing.”
Obviously a big loss for the team, but obviously Calvin Ridley is going through something right now, so we hope he’s able to get on the other side of it soon.
Should moves be made?
The NFL trade deadline is looming, with all trades having to be completed by 4 pm EST tomorrow. Should the Falcons make any moves?
Cordarelle Patterson enjoying success in a unique way
Cordarelle Patterson has been a revelation for the Falcons offense. Both on the ground and in the air, he’s turned into a true Swiss army knife in Atlanta.
