Falcoholinks: All the Falcons news you need for Wednesday, Oct. 6

LIIIIINKS

NFL: Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

It’s Wednesday. You’ve made it to the midway point in the week. We have links to massage your brain to get your day started. They’re called Falcoholinks, and you can read them below.

Bad news on the injury front

Falcons cornerback Isaiah Oliver had been enjoying a very solid season in his new role at nickel, and today we learned the awful news that he has been placed on IR after an injury he picked up against Washington.

He reportedly will require surgery and will miss the entire 2021 campaign. Brutal.

Punter Cameron Nizialek also left Sunday’s contest with an apparent leg injury and has also been placed on injured reserve.

Following those transactions, the Falcons have added punter Dustin Colquitt and defensive tackle Mike Pennel to the active roster.

So what did we learn?

What did we learn from Sunday’s loss against Washington? Well, for starters, we learned that Cordarelle Patterson should be enshrined in Atlanta’s Ring of Honor. He’s been an absolute gem on this team through the entire season so far.

We also learned the bad things, which our Eric Robinson also detailed in his latest piece.

We’ve got ghosts

The Falcons continue to be haunted by mistakes in all three phases of the game, and that was certainly evident in their loss on Sunday against one of the worst teams in the league.

We’re still scratching our collective heads about Calvin Ridley’s reluctance to engage contact or use his hands to catch footballs, missed tackles on special teams, and defensive blunders.

It’s gonna be a long season at this rate.

Snapped

Did you want to break something after Sunday’s latest knife-in-the-gut courtesy of the Atlanta Falcons? Perhaps you wanted to ... snap something. Well, we’ve got some snap counts from that loss for you!
