Isaiah Oliver has left the game in the second quarter of Atlanta’s clash against the Washington Football Team and it did not look good.

Unfortunately, he’s now been ruled out.

Without Oliver, the Falcons have turned to Avery Williams at nickel. Let’s hope this isn’t as serious as it seems for a player who was making major strides.

Earlier story follows

Tori McElhaney of the Falcons reported that Oliver was taken off the field on a cart, in what is never a good scene on the football field. He is doubtful to return.

Oliver got hurt while helping to make a stop on third down on a Taylor Heinecke run with an apparent knee injury. We hope that this is nothing serious, and will not speculate on the severity of the injury at this time.

Oliver has had a bit of a resurgence in his career since being moved to the slot cornerback position, and he had arguably the best game of his career last week against the New York Giants. Defensive coordinator Dean Pees seems to have been getting the best out of the former second round draft selection.
