The Falcons offseason was a vibrant one, if not always a straightforward one. The hiring of a new GM since 2008. Our third head coach in that same time frame. The trade of Hall of Fame receiver Julio Jones, plus a draft pick in the top 5.
That last one got people talking a good bit about Matt Ryan and his future. The team passed up the opportunity to draft Justin Fields or Mac Jones and opted for Kyle Pitts instead and the talk about the present and future at the quarterback position hasn’t stopped.
So what does the future hold for the most important position in sports? Dave Choate and I talk about that on our latest podcast. Topics include:
- Whether or not we thought QB should have been the choice in the draft
- Matt Ryan’s time in Atlanta and the numerous records he now holds
- Why the experience of Arthur Smith and Terry Fontenot may have informed their decision on going with Ryan
- What will happen with the massive cap hit of almost 49 million for Ryan in 2022
- So much more
