That’s a win, and it’s officially Victory Monday. Get your week started with a recap and other notes from Sunday’s game.
Falcons - Jets recap
The fourth quarter got a bit messy for a few minutes, but the Falcons came away with their second win of the season with a 27-20 final score in London. Atlanta entered this one with a skeleton crew on offense, so we knew they would have to dig deep to fend off New York’s defensive front — which they ultimately did.
The win now moves the all-time series history to 8-5 in favor of the Falcons, and while they’re still a ways from competing in 2021, the Falcons showed their mettle in a contest lacking playmakers on both sides of the ball.
Injuries
There were a couple of Falcons picking up knocks in this one, with cornerback Fabian Moreau exiting the game after making a great tackle, and Cordarrelle Patterson being evaluated for a concussion before returning.
Matty moves up the list
Matt Ryan continued his ascent up the list of passing leaders, eclipsing Eli Manning to become the 8th all-time in passing yards.
Cordarrelle Patterson (also) moves up the list
Cordarrelle Patterson has unquestionably been Atlanta’s MVP through the first five games, and on Sunday he moved into the 12th spot on the NFL’s list of all-time kick return yards.
Kyle Pitts officially arrives
We’ve all been waiting for the inevitable breakout game for rookie tight end Kyle Pitts, and while it took longer than we would wish, it happened on Sunday. Pitts snared his first touchdown and also notched the first 100-yard receiving game in his career — certainly not to be the last.
