Cordarrelle Patterson moves to 12th all-time in kick return yardage

He’s having a wonderful season, and Patterson’s after Devin Hester now.

Cordarrelle Patterson isn’t just the great story of this young Falcons season, he’s one of the great stories of this NFL season so far. The legendary kick returner is Atlanta’s best all-purpose weapon on offense and is doing great work today against the Jets.

Ultimately, though, he’ll someday get Hall of Fame consideration for his work as a kick returner, and he continues to move up the all-time leaderboard there.

Patterson will have absolutely no trouble getting by Hester, perhaps as soon as today, in which case we’ll update this story. He’s been a remarkable returner over the years and one of the best in NFL history, and he’s doing that work while also being vital to a Falcons offense that is finally finding its footing. As long as he stays healthy and gets opportunities to return, Patterson should be top 10 by the end of the season, as Leon Washington is at 7,553 yards and within striking distance.

What a stellar year. We’ll hope Patterson can keep cooking.
