Happy Tuesday, Falcoholics! We are now 48 hours into the off-season. How are you feeling about the state of the franchise? Have you lost all faith yet? Good! Just keep on truckin’.
Our links are handpicked and washed in rain water before we package them in crates and ship them around the country.
Dave Choate recapped the Week 17 loss that concluded the Falcons’ season, as did David Walker and Evan Birchfield on this week’s podcast. And the Falcons just signed 11 players to reserve/future contracts, including Kurt Benkert. Whether Benkert gets a meaningful opportunity to be the Falcons QB2 in 2021 remains to be seen, but it’s good to see him get another opportunity.
The Falcons requested an interview with Colts college scouting director Morocco Brown. They are also planning to interview Terry Fontenot (Saints) and Brad Holmes (Rams) in pursuit of Thomas Dimitroff’s replacement.
Todd Bowles, Arthur Smith, and Brandon Staley are all on the Falcons’ radar as potential head coaches. (Smith’s interview should actually take place in the relatively near future.) The Falcons are also looking to interview Panthers OC Joe Brady. By the way, look no further than our handy tracker if you are struggling to keep track of all these HC and GM interviews.
I brought you this week’s edition of “3 up, 3 down” and Matt Schaub formally announced his retirement yesterday. Goodbye, Sweet Prince.
Arthur Blank and Rich McKay hosted a candid presser yesterday. While I appreciate their honesty, I do still wonder how they managed to allow Dimitroff and Quinn to hang around for so long. Oh well.
