The Falcons’ Week 1 contest against the Seahawks is a only 4 days away. In less time than it took me to eat all the surplus Halloween candy without my kids’ permission, the Falcons will kick off what has the potential to be a truly exciting season.

Draftkings Sportsbook has the Falcons as 1.5 point underdogs going into the game, which makes some sense if you are willing to take an objective look at the composition of both teams. That said, this actually a much different situation than last year’s regular season matchup between these two teams, also played in Atlanta. The Seahawks went into that game as 7.5 point favorites and came away with a 27-20 victory, although the Falcons did cover the spread.

This Seahawks team is led by the super talented Russell Wilson, a player that is already generating considerable MVP buzz ahead of the 2020 season. But their defense is the Achilles heel to watch, because its arguably the weakest unit the Seahawks have been forced to field in years. In short, this has the potential to be a real shootout. And along those lines, the over/under sits at 49.

It’s worth noting that the Seahawks are 1-4 against the spread over their last 5 games against the Falcons. And what’s more, the Falcons finished 2019 4-1 against the spread.

Your thoughts about the Falcons being underdogs at home in Week 1?
