The Falcons are either at or near their rock bottom. That’s where they are, and it’s not clear where they can go from here. At 0-3, they’re dangerously close to their worst start since 1999. (And if they lose when they lose on Monday night, they’ll tie that mark.) There’s no way around it. No shortcuts, and no one is coming to save them. In short, it’s just a bad time to be the Falcons or one of their fans.
Like it or not, the Falcons are scheduled to play a competitive football team on Monday night. The Packers are sitting at 3-0 with nothing but open field ahead of them. Truth be told, there’s going to be a lot of talent and better coaching on the other sideline. It’s likely to be hard to watch at times. So what are the oddsmakers saying about this Monday Night Football matchup?
As of Tuesday night, the Falcons were tabbed as 7.5 point underdogs and 57.5 was the over/under. Again, I trust that the current odds don’t come as a surprise to anyone, given the rocky start we’ve been forced to endure. The Falcons are not the biggest underdogs headed into this weekend’s games. The Giants and the Washington Football Team are both 13 point underdogs. Maybe that counts for something.
A couple of fun facts you might want to take note of: Notwithstanding the Packers’ 7 consecutive home wins, the Falcons have covered the spread in each of their last 5 road games. And the Falcons are 5-2 against the spread over their last 7 games.
