One week from today we will have actual, real NFL football. In an offseason where that seemed like wishful thinking, we’re on the cusp of the 2020 NFL season kicking off on Thursday night.

Rookie starters

As the Falcons round out training camp in advance of the coming season, which rookies are locks as starters, who will eventually wind up starting, and who is on the outside looking in?

Guys like first-round corner A.J. Terrell and late-round punter Sterling Hofrichter are well positioned to be named along starters, but there are several names who are in the mix.

QB Kyle Lauletta signed

The Falcons worked out former fourth-round pick and New York Giants quarterback Kyle Lauletta earlier in the week, and yesterday they made it official by signing him. Lauletta isn’t expected to supplant either Matt Schaub or Kurt Benkert, so he’s likely headed to the practice squad.
