The 0-2 Falcons take on the 2-0 Bears on Sunday, a must-win game for Matt Ryan and Co. There’s no telling what changes will be on the horizon should this team start 0-3, but the calls for both Dan Quinn and Thomas Dimitroff’s jobs will assuredly grow to a fever pitch.

We preview Sunday’s tilt and more in today’s Falcoholinks.

Falcons - Bears preview

The Falcons enter this matchup winless, while the Bears are undefeated and tied with the Packers atop the NFC North. Just the way we drew it up, right? It will be a challenge on the road, and with the Bears possessing the strongest defense the Falcons have faced to date, it will be a test of Atlanta’s offensive firepower.

But after the woeful defensive performances of the previous two weeks (Foye Oluokun’s Dallas game notwithstanding) are the Falcons even capable of stopping anyone at this point?

The Falcons are going to need everything to work in their favor to avoid the 0-3 hole, and as the current injury list reads like a Cheesecake Factory menu, they’re already at a disadvantage heading into Sunday.

A conservative offense?

The Falcons offense hasn’t been the team’s biggest issue through the first two weeks, but as they’re currently the 5th-worst offense at generating first downs on second down, it’s indicative of an overly conservative offensive scheme.

Down memory lane

What’s your favorite Atlanta Falcons - Chicago Bears memory? I vividly recall that rumbling Austin Hooper touchdown in a sloppy season-opening affair in 2017 as Hurricane Irma bared down on my apartment in Central Florida. I somehow maintained power all the way through that one, but was soon without air conditioning or lights. That lasted for five days.

Perhaps it’s that 2008 comeback featuring a Michael Jenkins toe tap and Jason Elam booting the game-winner?

Falcons intend to sign Beavers

We’ve got a Hall of Fame name on board, as the Falcons’ are intending to sign offensive guard Willie Beavers. The AJC’s Jason Butt delivered the news, so we’ll let you know when the ink is dry on Beavers.
