Laquon Treadwell joined the Falcons as the obvious favorite for their fourth receiver gig, given that he was a seasoned veteran with size, solid hands, and some special teams value. He wound up losing that battle to Christian Blake and did not make the final 53 man roster, but it appears he’s on his way back to Atlanta after Week 1.
The Falcons will reportedly sign Treadwell to the practice squad soon, per several national and local reporters.
The #Falcons are expected to sign WR Laquon Treadwell to their practice squad, source said. Former #Vikings first-round pick was with Atlanta in camp.

There’s no word on what the corresponding move will be just yet, but it could very well be current practice squad receiver Juwan Green heading out the door. Treadwell could find his way onto the roster at some point this year if the team doesn’t get production out of Blake or Olamide Zaccheaus, who produced zero receptions between them on Sunday against the Seahawks. At worst, he’s fairly reliable veteran depth, even if ESPN’s Vaughn McClure and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s D. Orlando Ledbetter reported he didn’t have a great camp.
That depth is certainly welcome, regardless of the corresponding move, and we’ll give Treadwell a warm welcome back to Atlanta when he does join the practice squad. ll give Treadwell a warm welcome back to Atlanta when he does join the practice squad.
