The long night is over, and we will be graced with NFL football tonight. It’s going to be a weird season, but it’s going to be a season nonetheless. Read on for Thursday’s edition of Falcoholinks as we inch toward Sunday’s kickoff against Seattle.

Need to knows for Week 1

NFL football is officially back tonight, and while we’re excited to watch two of the game’s great young quarterbacks in Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes this evening, all of our focus is on Sunday’s tilt against the Seattle Seahawks. So what do you need to know in advance of Week 1?

Kendall Sheffield, Charles Harris DNP

Both cornerback Kendall Sheffield — who was seen in a walking boot — and defensive end Charles Harris were held out of Wednesday’s practice. It’s concerning news for both players’ availability for Sunday, so we’ll keep you posted on that front.

The battle continues

Rookie offensive lineman Matt Hennessy had been running with the first-team offense early in camp, but due to injury, was unable to secure the job at left guard outright. As a result, both Hennessy and James Carpenter will get run at the spot during Atlanta’s Week 1 game against Seattle.

Falcons - Seahawks odds

Seattle went 11-5 in 2019, while Atlanta limped to a 7-9 record, the second consecutive losing season in Dan Quinn’s tenure as the Falcons head coach. With those records in mind, it’s not a surprise to see the oddmakers giving the edge to the Seahawks in the opening line.

On the bubble

With the Falcons not playing until Sunday afternoon, there’s still time for moves to be made to the team’s 53-man roster. So what players remain on the bubble, and will they remain with the team through Week 1?

The Falcoholic Live Episode 113

In last night’s episode, The Falcoholic Crew reviewed the composition of the 53-man roster and previewed Sunday’s clash against the Seahawks. Oh, and they were joined with honorary Falcoholic Kynan Forney, as well. If you missed the live broadcast you can view the full episode right here.
