Falcons waive TE Carson Meier

The move further explains the re-signing of TE Luke Stocker

On Wednesday afternoon, it was reported that the Atlanta Falcons were expected to re-sign tight end Luke Stocker who played for the team in 2019. In a likely corresponding move, the Falcons have officially waived tight end Carson Meier with a injury settlement.

That leaves one open spot on the Falcons roster again, by our count.

Meier played in only one game for the Falcons in 2019, recording no stats. He was on the practice squad mainly as insurance in case then tight end’s Austin Hooper or Luke Stocker went down for injury. The Oklahoma product spent some time with the Jacksonville Jaguars prior to signing with on September 3, 2019. On December 30, 2019, Meier was signed to a reserve/future contract but has since been waived. At this time, there’s no further information on his injury settlement.

With Luke Stocker being added to the roster, the Falcons other tight ends are Hayden Hurst, Khari Lee, Jaeden Graham and Jared Pinkney. Excluding fullback Keith Smith who is expected to be officially activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list soon, the Falcons roster currently sits at 79. Also on the reserve/COVID-19 list is defensive back Jamal Carter, but we have no update on his roster status at this time.
