Matt Ryan is the winningest quarterback in Atlanta Falcons history. He’s won an NFC Championship, has been victorious in numerous regular season and playoff games, and won NFL MVP honors in 2016. His latest victory comes off the field, however, as Ryan is doing his part to help Atlanta’s black community in a time of need.
Ryan took to Instagram Friday morning to announce that he is starting a GoFundMe fundraiser for Atlanta’s black community with the goal of raising $2 million. The signal caller kicked it off with a pledge to donate $500,000 himself.
Ryan is putting his money where his mouth is when it comes to social issues surrounding his community, and he’s using his platform to further the cause.
A few days ago he was one of the first NFL athletes to speak out about the death of George Floyd, letting it be known that we all have an obligation to “listen and learn with all humility and compassion.”
Ryan has often made the city of Atlanta proud for his performance on the field over the past 12 years. He’s also represented the franchise well by never putting himself in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. Today, Ryan has delivered one of his greatest performances, and it’s was one which comes off the field.
