Did your Falcon fandom originate from family, friends, or something else?

This evening’s open thread explores your origin stories.

One question we ask more or less annually around here is when you became a Falcons fan, and perhaps how. Consider this our annual effort in that regard, with a slight twist.

I’m interested in hearing this evening whether you picked up your fandom originally because of family taking you to games and rooting for the Falcons, because friends were interested in the team and got you into it, or if you became a fan a completely different way. As you’re well aware by now, as a lifelong New Englander I fell into fandom thanks to the kind of enthusiasm only a 7-year-old can muster for a cool playoff team with awesome uniforms, aided by the fact that my dad was a Packers fans and the Patriots largely stunk at the time. I don’t regret it, but certainly it was a weird path for me to take.

How about you? Once you’re done discussing, make this your open thread for the day!
