Devonta Freeman deletes expletive-filled tweet saying he has “10 more years” left

It seems the running back does not agree with the retirement rumors.

The NFL is slow but the Devonta Freeman news has been fast for a player not signing with a team. First, he turned down a $4 million deal with the run-heavy Seattle Seahawks. Then there were rumors he would skip the 2020 season if the money wasn’t right. More rumors followed, suggesting Freeman could just leave the NFL entirely.

Freeman responded, but he did not sound like he is ready to hang up his cleats. This tweet was quickly deleted, potentially for the NSFW aspects.

Wow, Freeman uses Twitter for iPhone? No wonder he sounds so frustrated.

Despite Freeman’s obvious optimism putting him in Frank Gore territory and outdoing Adrian Peterson, he still sounds motivated to play. At the same time, he had an offer with a few escalators that could bring his 2020 pay up to $4 million.

Freeman was clearly frustrated at whoever suggested he may retire and let it be known he’s ready to play (for more than $4 million). Falcons fans may be surprised to see Freeman turn down $4 million. Despite some poor play-calling and even worse blocking, Freeman has not played terribly well in only 30 games in the last three seasons.

Freeman may be lucky to play for the next 10 years if he expects to be paid like a top back without performing like one.
