Atlanta capped off a productive second day of the draft by once again avoiding the temptation to trade up, and they wound up snagging an intriguing defensive lineman and promising future starter on the offensive line. With three major needs addressed, Atlanta heads into the draft’s third day with three picks and some obvious directions to go in.
The Falcons can just address depth or go with the best player available, but chances are they’ll try to expend one pick at a thin linebacker position, another at a muddled running back position, and a third on a return specialist with some offensive or defensive utility. They could also trade down for more selections, but I think they’ll likely be satisfied to hit all those notes by tonight.
As always, you can follow along here and comment on all the picks as they’re made. I’m hoping the Falcons can keep their momentum going and reward us with some more strong selections on the draft’s final day.
