It’s the nth day of quarantine, but we’ve got the 2020 NFL Draft right around the corner to fill the sports void that’s existed since early March. That’s our focus in Thursday’s edition of Falcoholinks.
Draft scouting
The Falcons will look to improve their linebacking corps in the 2020 NFL Draft, and should they decide to use their first-round pick on the spot, LSU’s Patrick Queen might fit the bill. The speedy linebacker from the Bayou has the tools that Dan Quinn covets at the position, and our Everett Glaze took a closer look at what Queen brings to the table.
Finding a difference maker
Sitting at No. 16 on the draft board, the Falcons are well-positioned to bring home a difference maker on defense next week. Whether it’s addressing the line or the secondary, Atlanta has plenty of options to add impact to the defensive side of the ball.
And of course there’s the very real possibility that the Falcons trade up to snag their guy. Thomas Dimitroff has never been shy about making deals on draft day, and recent rumors suggest they could be eyeing a move for C.J. Henderson or a deal to move up for defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw.
Adding from the XFL
The Falcons have dipped into the XFL well a few times already, with the signings of tight end Khari Lee and linebacker Edmond Robinson. They signed yet another former XFL player yesterday as they came to terms with former Dallas Renegades corner Josh Hawkins.
The guard situation
The left guard spot is far from settled, so you can certainly chalk it up as a draft need for the Falcons. What’s the situation like at the moment? Shaky would be a generous assessment.
