The news surrounding the continuing spread of COVID-19 in the United States is scary, and a little positivity is more than welcome. Many kids are now out of school due to widespread efforts to slow the spread of coronavirus, and one Falcons player is attempting to help them continue their reading efforts.

Atlanta Falcons fullback Keith Smith has created the “Books with Beef” book club, brought to you by his 3D Foundation, which stands for “Dedicated Dads & Daughters.” Once a week, Smith will host the event joined by family and special guests and read a children’s book via Zoom and Facebook Live with the goal of providing all children a story time, especially for those whose parents and guardians work. Smith will also hold a Q&A discussion on relevant topics and connect with his audience.

“I’m having kids bring their favorite book to possibly get picked to read themselves,” Keith Smith told The Falcoholic. “Kindergarten through 5th grade is who I’m looking to get to read for us.”

The first “Books with Beef” story time with Keith Smith will take place on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at 3 p.m. ET. You can sign up for his Zoom book club by clicking here, or you can like his Facebook page, which will have video once the stream begins.

Smith recently signed a three-year extension with the Falcons, so hopefully kids will be virtually attending “Books with Beef” for years to come.
