Falcons sign former XFL TE Khari Lee

Formerly of the DC Defenders, Lee now gets his shot at the big leagues.

The Falcons tight end room is going to look very different in 2020. The departure of Austin Hooper and the release of Luke Stocker left only Jaeden Graham as the only carry over from 2019. The trade for Hayden Hurst has helped fill the Hooper void but it was clear the team needed to find at least one more body, if only for camp.

Well, the team has dipped into the XFL waters and signed former DC Defenders tight end Khari Lee.

Lee has played in the NFL before, having had stints in Chicago, Detroit and Buffalo. His last season in the NFL was in 2018 with the Bills. He was taken in the 5th round of the 2020 XFL Draft. At 28 years old, he still has some time left to prove himself, but don’t expect him to be a big boon to the offense at this point. Through 5 games in the XFL, he had 8 receptions for 91 yards and 2 touchdowns, and he slots in as competition for the third tight end spot in Atlanta.
