The Super Bowl kicks off today, and all we can do is watch enviously as two great teams battle for the Lombardi.
How far away are the Falcons? That question consumes more of my waking hours than I’d care to admit. The reality is that while this team stinking is good for business in terms of rage clicks and things to write about, we’d all be a lot happier if the Falcons finally got over the hump and won a Super Bowl, and we’d be happiest if it happened sooner than later. It’s my most fervent wish, besides growing back a full head of hair.
I’m looking for a lively discussion so I’m not going to belabor my opinion here, but I think the Falcons are charitably 2-3 years away from making a big Super Bowl push again. I think they’re two strong draft classes and some savvy offseason away from being an elite team again, and frankly I fret a lot about the current regime’s ability to get them over the hump even if the talent proves itself in a major way this season.
That said, I’m just one man. Where do you stand?
