We’re into the dregs of the offseason now, and the Falcons have not been particularly obliging in giving us major news. In the absence of that, let’s get back into something we used to love in the dregs of offseason pasts: An open thread.
Today, let’s talk about the most surprising season in team history. Considering your expectations, which one was it? Were you stunned in 2016 when the Falcons went all the way to the Super Bowl? Were you shocked in 1999 when the Falcons fell flat after best season in franchise history? Was it another year entirely?
For me, it’ll always be 2008. I went into that year with modest expectations, considering that they were coming off one of the most dispiriting years in franchise history, they were starting a rookie quarterback, and there were plenty of holes on the roster. The fact that they went to the playoffs and were one agonizing play away from advancing was impressive, and it was also (at least for me) wholly unexpected.
Weigh in and then use this as your open thread for whatever you like.
