It’s somehow Thursday already, as the Atlanta Falcons continue to prepare for this Sunday’s matchup with the New Orleans Saints. On Wednesday, we received some decent news as much of the team was either practicing or limited. On Thursday however, several key players were downgraded to not practicing.
The team released its official practice report for Thursday, giving us insight into where certain players stand health-wise.
FULL PARTICIPATION
- FB Keith Smith (knee)
- K Younghoe Koo (right quad)
LIMITED PARTICIPATION
- WR Calvin Ridley (foot/ankle)
- DE Dante Fowler (hamstring)
NO PARTICIPATION
- CB Kendall Sheffield (illness)
- G James Carpenter (groin)
- WR Julio Jones (hamstring)
- RB Todd Gurley (knee)
- TE Hayden Hurst (ankle)
- C Alex Mack (rest)
The good news on Thursday’s report is that kicker Younghoe Koo is back to fully practicing. Koo sustained a right quad injury last week against the Raiders and was limited in practice on Wednesday.
The bad news, however, is that Julio Jones, Todd Gurley and Hayden Hurst — who were all limited on Wednesday, did not practice on Thursday. Before you panic, the Falcons do have a habit of giving veteran players some much needed rest late in the week, so it doesn’t necessarily mean any of the mentioned players will be inactive this weekend.
We’ll get a better idea on Friday’s practice report which will provide us with injury designations for this Sunday’s game against the Saints.
