It’s Christmas day and the Atlanta Falcons did not hold a practice. What they provided on Friday was an estimated practice report which also includes injury designations for Sunday’s road game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Four players in total will be held out of the game due to injuries.
Friday’s official practice report:
FULL PARTICIPATION
- CB Blidi Wreh-Wilson (illness)
- TE Jaeden Graham (neck)
- DE Jacob Tuioti-Mariner (elbow)
- S Ricardo Allen (concussion) QUESTIONABLE
- DE Steven Means (hand)
LIMITED PARTICIPATION
- S Keanu Neal (hamstring)
- LB Deion Jones (toe)
- DT Marlon Davidson (knee) QUESTIONABLE
- WR Brandon Powell (foot) QUESTIONABLE
NO PARTICIPATION
- WR Julio Jones (hamstring) OUT
- CB Darqueze Dennard (quad) OUT
- C Alex Mack (concussion) OUT
- G James Carpenter (groin) OUT
- Santa Claus (rest)
Since there was no actual practice held, Thursday’s report is basically the same as Friday’s, as you can see from above. The only extra information we have received is the injury designations that Julio Jones, Darqueze Dennard, Alex Mack and James Carpenter have all been ruled out for Sunday’s game.
Mack concerns me the most as his time in Atlanta has been rumored to come to an end this season, and I’d hate to see him go out like that. Concussions are difficult injuries to predict, but hopefully he’ll get to suit up one more time, in week 17 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Unfortunately for the Falcons, rookie Matt Hennessy against gifted Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones will likely be the result, and that’s going to be tough sledding for a young player making his first start at center.
Return specialist Brandon Powell, who would’ve been limited if there was an actual practice, is listed as questionable for the Chiefs’ game. That’ll be something to monitor as the Falcons have a talented Chris Rowland stored away on the practice squad. Santa Claus also would not have practiced on Friday, due to a excessive cookies and milk intake, but we’ll get him out there Sunday.
