Falcoholinks: All the Falcons news you need for Thursday, Dec. 17

Three more weeks of Falcons football and we can sail into the offseason pondering draft moves and the new regime poised to lead the team. In the meantime, here’s some Falcoholinks for ya.

Falcons - Bucs on deck

The Tampa Bay Bucs have won the offseason seemingly every year since The Industrial Age, but 2020 is finally the year that their high-profile acquisitions have led to wins. Tampa comes to town at 8-5, second in the NFC South and sitting at the sixth seed in the conference.

The Falcons, on the other hand ... Well, you know. The Falcons have been eliminated from playoff contention and are sitting in the cellar at 4-9. So when it comes to the Bucs, we’ll just have to cling to the good memories.

On the injury front, a number of key Falcons were held out of Wednesday’s practice, while left guard James Carpenter appears to be trending upward for Sunday’s game.

Younghoe Koo poised to break a record

Younghoe Koo has had a breakout season as the Atlanta Falcons kicker. going 33/34 on field goal attempts — including a perfect 4/4 on attempts 50 yards or longer. Koo’s wondrous run has also put him on the cusp of breaking the franchise record for field goals, as he only needs to hit one on Sunday to tie current leader Matt Bryant.
