Falcons vs. Chargers Week 14 open thread and key info

Your 4-8 Falcons against the 3-9 Chargers, right now.

At this point, if you haven’t checked out of this deeply frustrating Falcons season entirely, you’re probably either rooting for four good games so you can enjoy your Sundays or hoping Atlanta gets creamed, cleans house, and gets a top five draft pick. Either way, hopefully you’ve got something to root for.

Today’s matchups pits the Falcons against a Chargers team that is reeling, having lost three of their last four. It’s also a team with plenty of talent, making them a potentially sneaky difficult matchup for an Atlanta team down two offensive line starters, the great Julio Jones, and Ricardo Allen. I expect, as I have since I saw this matchup on the schedule, a wild game that comes down to the wire, though I can’t claim to know how it will end.

Use this as your open thread for the game.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Los Angeles Chargers, Week 14

When: Sunday, December 13, 4:25 p.m. EST

Where: SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, California

Channel: FOX

Announcers: Joe Davis, Brock Huard, Jenny Taft

Streaming: FOXSportsGo

Radio: 92.9 The Game

Key Questions: Will the Falcons passing game, which has gone from a slight underperformer to an active liability, find any success against a tough Chargers defense? Can Justin Herbert dig out from an ugly 45-0 loss to the Patriots by feasting on a Falcons secondary that is down Ricardo Allen? Who will blow this game in spectacular fashion in the final minutes?

Prediction: The Falcons win this one, likely ridiculously and in narrow fashion late in the game. Let’s say Falcons 30, Chargers 28, with Koo accounting for another three field goals. I’m less certain of this than I was before I knew who would be out on Sunday, but what the heck, let’s do it.
