Falcons vs. Broncos: who was the defensive player of the game?

For three and a half quarters, this entire unit was great.

NFL: Denver Broncos at Atlanta Falcons Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Don’t look now, but the Falcons defense has improved dramatically since Raheem Morris has taken over as head coach. Coming into the game, they were averaging just 21 points per game under Morris. While they gave up more on Sunday, they still had a strong game overall ... late game theatrics not withstanding. Here are some candidates for the best of the game.

Grady Jarrett

You knew this name would be on the list. He was destroying the Broncos interior offensive line all day and his pressure on Drew Lock late in the game directly lead to the Ricardo Allen interception. His presence was felt throughout the game even if the stats didn’t show it. He is truly a game wrecker and this game showed it in spades.

A.J. Terrell

The rookie first round corner has slowly but surely grown into his position as the top corner on this team. His coverage was excellent all game and he is now one of the most promising players on this defense.

Foye Oluokun

Speaking of improvement - no one may be more improved this year than Oluokun. Whether it’s run support, pass defense or rushing the passer, Foye has been a pleasure to watch. He netted another sack on the day and was all over the field making plays throughout the game. He’s become a legitimate player the Falcons will need to consider keeping for the long term.
