Falcons vs. Raiders: Who was the defensive player of the game?

With only 6 points allowed, this was their best performance in recent memory.

For the first time in a very long time the Falcons defense completely dominated a game. The fact that it came against a team with Josh Jacobs and Darren Waller on the field makes it even more impressive. Let’s take a look at the guys that made a difference in this dominant defensive performance.

Deion Jones

Debo reminded us all that he is easily one of the fastest linebackers in the league. His pick-6 of Derek Carr helped pad the Falcons lead later in the game and he was already having a good game before this point. He was a factor in stopping the run and his speed was on display in a way that we haven’t consistently seen in 2020.

Keanu Neal

Neal was an absolute force against the run, netting several big stops that forced the Raiders into fourth down. He’s shown flashes of his old self and this game was a reminder that he can be a dominant, hard hitting force against the run.

Jacob Tuioti-Mariner

Talk about depth. Tuioti-Mariner netted a sack, a forced fumble AND a fumble recovery in this game. This guy has been a nice surprise this season as a solid rotational player on this defensive line. The Falcons should strongly consider bringing him back in 2021.
