A sleepy first half of offense gave way to an absolute onslaught in Sunday’s 43-6 win over the Raiders. Recapping the game and more in Monday’s edition of Falcoholinks.
Falcons - Raiders recap
The Falcons had a tall task ahead of them at home against the Las Vegas Raiders, but a strong defensive effort and an offensive awakening in the second half carried them to a decisive win. Atlanta is certainly a franchise in flux, but notching a win against a tough team like the Raiders can instill some confidence moving forward, in the very least.
Injuries
Already without Julio Jones and Todd Gurley, Atlanta entered this contest missing some very important cogs on defense. That issue would be compounded early on, as wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus was ruled out with a toe injury in the first half.
The hits to the offense would unfortunately continue, as left guard James Carpenter was carted off in the second half with an apparent groin injury.
A milestone for Matty
As one of the best offensive players in Atlanta Falcons history, Matt Ryan holds a number of franchise records. On Sunday he became just the fourth Falcon to play 200 games for the team, joining Mike Kenn, Jeff Van Note, and Jessie Tuggle to be the only players to hit that number.
