The Falcons lost starting guard James Carpenter early in the 4th quarter against the Oakland Raiders. While up 33 to 6, Carpenter went down in what appeared to be a leg injury. He was carted off the field and was almost immediately ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Carpenter was replaced by journeyman Justin McCray, most recently with the Cleveland Browns. Ito Smith quickly scored on an 8-yard touchdown run. After the series, the Falcons sat most of their offensive starters.
Carpenter was signed to a 4-year, $21 million deal at the start of 2019. He was an odd pick for a team running an outside zone blocking scheme due to his size, and has frequently been the worst performing player along the offensive line. There is a chance this is the last time we see Carpenter suiting up for the Falcons.
