Matt Ryan is one of the best Atlanta Falcons in history, somethign that becomes more apparent with every passing year. With the passage of time, he’s also become one of the longest-tenured players in team history, clearing a nice round number milestone today against the Raiders by playing his 200th game.
As the Falcons noted, Ryan became just the fourth player in team history to play 200 games with the Falcons. All three of the others are true franchise greats, with should-be Hall of Famers Mike Kenn and Jessie Tuggle joined by longtime and terrific center Jeff Van Note. Ryan’s now in that excellent company.
Ryan joins Mike Kenn, Jeff Van Note and Jessie Tuggle as Falcons to play 200 games. Also trails only Drew Brees in career completions and passing yards through 200 games. https://t.co/YeCZX3oMpY

Ryan is also second in completions and passing yards through 200 games, as Will McFadden notes above, trailing only Drew Brees. It can be easy to forget in all the mess and muck of yet another lost Falcons season that Ryan has been good-to-great his entire career in Atlanta, and he deserves his place in the pantheon of Atlanta greats. We’ll hope he finally gets his shot at a Super Bowl win to go with his sterling resume next year.
