The Falcons are facing a tough matchup against the Oakland Raiders and they will get no help from injuries. Coming off of an absolutely putrid offensive performance against the Saints, the Falcons are missing two top players.
The Falcons have announced the following players are inactive:
- Julio Jones
- Todd Gurley
- Qadree Ollison
- Tyler Hall
- John Wetzel
- Deadrin Senat
The loss of Julio is, of course, enormous. Gurley, however, has been outperformed by backup Brian Hill who should get the bulk of the carries short of any Koetter shenanigans. The more interesting Koetter shenanigans is former fifth-round running back Qadree Ollison being inactive with Todd Gurley out. Ollison had been dealing with an undisclosed illness earlier in the week, but this also means that undrafted back Tony Brooks-James, elevated from the practice squad earlier this week, is active.
Similar to Deadrin Senat, Ollison just cannot get on the field. Both players are almost certainly among early cuts in the offseason.
The Falcons dodge at least a few big names today as the following players are inactive.
- Marcus Mariota
- Jalen Richard
- John Simpson
- Daniel Ross
- Clelin Ferrell
The big name here is Ferrell, Oakland’s starting pass rusher. As we have seen, Koetter’s offense struggles when teams are able to bring pressure. The loss of Ferrell should at least help.
