After an abysmal Sunday afternoon in New Orleans, here’s your Falcoholinks for a Monday morning.

Falcons - Saints recap

The Falcons turned in an especially ugly effort against the Saints, dropping the game on the road and moving to 3-7 on the season. The first half was a field goal-filled snoozer and Atlanta’s defense collapsed in the second half to complete the loss. Dirk Koetter’s continued employment is one of the weirder facets of the weird year that 2020 has been.

Injuries

Atlanta did not escape this one unscathed, as rookie linebacker Mykal Walker picked up a hamstring injury in the first half, and Julio Jones, who was battling through a hamstring injury all game, left late in the fourth quarter.

Rumors abound

The season rolls on, but the Falcons are also looking toward 2021 and evaluating the options for their next head coach and general manager. The latest rumblings indicate that interim head coach Raheem Morris and former Houston Texas GM Rick Smith are in the mix for the roles.

Morris has done a decent job in his first five games as Atlanta’s interim head coach, going 3-2 over that span.

Also mentioned among the names of potential fits for GM are Reggie McKenzie and Champ Kelly.
