The Falcons head to New Orleans on Sunday for their first meeting with their biggest divisional rival. We preview that game and more in Thursday’s edition of Falcoholinks.
Falcons - Saints on deck
Hate Week is upon us, and while the Saints currently sit atop the NFC East, they’re missing Drew Brees and the Falcons have won three of their previous four. What we’re saying is: there’s a chance. Atlanta enters this one as five point underdogs on the road, but as these Hate Week clashes are often very close contests, you can’t really read much into the opening line.
If Atlanta hopes to topple New Orleans on the road they’re going to need to need every ounce of their offensive firepower, so it’s good news that Calvin Ridley has a shot to play on Sunday.
The Falcons have had some memorable clashes with their main rival, but what memory stands out most? For many, it’s that clutch, game-saving red zone interception by Deion Jones in 2017.
Foye for Pro Bowl 2020
Third-year linebacker Foyesade Oluokun has truly come into his own this season. He’s seemingly always around the football, and has added a physical element to Atlanta’s defense, forcing three fumbles and leading the team in tackles. For his breakout year, Oluokun is now on the ballot for the 2020 NFL Pro Bowl, and of course you should head over there and mash that vote button.
Draft prospect watch: Safety
There’s a strong likelihood that the Falcons move on from a safety or two next season, so it’s never too early to start surveying the prospects who may fit the bill in the 2021 NFL Draft.
